Drumjohn Pipeline Project Complete!
July 21, 2026
Another win for the Cairnhill Special Projects team!
Cairnhill recently had the chance to showcase its fabrication and site installation expertise for our valued client AmcoGiffen, on behalf of Drax Group UK. This was an excellent opportunity for all involved to highlight our combined collaborative working capabilities, with great credit due to the AMCO Management Team for bringing this remote and technically complex project to completion.
Our specialist installation team worked remotely in Dumfries and Galloway to complete the installation and delivery of a partial penstock replacement within the pipeline at Drumjohn Power Station. Fabricated at our in-house facility in Coatbridge, the penstock section was transported to site and installed as part of the Galloway hydro-electric power scheme.
Involving the partial removal of the existing penstock and installing a fully removable section, this will provide safer access for future routine maintenance checks whilst supporting the long-term operation of the renewable energy source.
This key element of water pipeline infrastructure brings fresh water from the Loch Doon tunnel to the Deugh catchment and into the Drumjohn Power station. By improving access for future maintenance, this installation will secure water availability for the power station.
A great example of expertise, commitment, and engineering performance by three knowledgeable & skilled teams, from inception to completion.
