Introducing Our Highland Hero – Maggie’s Summer Art Trail 2026
July 13, 2026
Meet Scottie the Bruce, otherwise known as ‘Wee Brucie’ – Cairnhill Structures Joins Maggie’s Cancer Charity for the Summer’s City Art Trail 🐾🐶.
Cairnhill Takes Part in Scottie’s in the City Trail 2026!
This summer, we are very excited to be part of one of Glasgow’s most unique public art campaigns – Scottie’s in the City, proudly supporting Maggie’s Cancer Charity.
As sponsors of our very own ‘Scottie The Bruce’ sculpture, or more affectionately known to Cairnhill as ‘Wee Brucie’, we’re thrilled to see our courageous Scottie take his place among more than 40 beautifully designed sculptures across the city. Together, they are helping raise and vital funds for Maggie’s, who’s incredible teams provide practical, emotional, and medical support to those living with cancer, as well as their loved ones.
Introducing Our Highland Hero
Standing proudly on the banks of the River Clyde beside the OVO Hydro, overlooking the city’s famous waterfront near the STV and BBC Studios, Wee Brucie keeps watch over Glasgow with the same courage and determination as his legendary namesake.
Created, designed, and hand-painted by the exceptionally talented Maureen King, our Scottie plays tribute to Scotland’s iconic King, Robert the Bruce. Complete with his famous battle axe and unmistakable Highland Spirit, Wee Bruce celebrates bravery, resilience, and the enduring strength that has defined Scotland for centuries.
Watching Maureen transform a blank sculpture into this remarkably unique piece of art has been nothing short of inspiring, and we are incredibly proud to see her work become part of Glasgow’s summer skyline.
The Story Behind Our Scottie
At Cairnhill, we are proud to support the build and strengthening of Scotland’s infrastructure, particularly across Glasgow and the surrounding areas. Our work is built on resilience, craftsmanship, and engineering excellence – qualities that are equally reflected in Robert the Bruce’s enduring legacy.
Our decision to choose Scottie the Bruce was based upon his representation going beyond Scottish history. He symbolises courage in the face of adversity, determination through difficult times, and unwavering loyalty – the same as what is demonstrated every day by the incredible staff, volunteers and people who support Maggie’s.
Following the Pawprints – Glasgow City Trail 2026
Running until August 16th, Scottie’s in the City has transformed Glasgow into a city-wide treasure hunt. Created in partnership with Wild in Art, the trail features over 40 large Scottie sculptures designed by artists from across Scotland, alongside 50 smaller Scotties decorated by local schools and community groups.
Each sculpture tells its own story, celebrating Scottish culture, creativity, and community spirit. Visitors can download the Official Trail App to discover every Scottie, unlock rewards and vote for their favourites along the way.
Whether you’re a proud Glaswegian, visiting the city, or looking for a tail-wagging day our with your family or friends, there’s a Scottie waiting to be discovered around every corner.
