Meet the Team – July

With over 20 years of industry experience, David began his career at Grangemouth oil refinery, working on new-build and refurbished storage tanks before moving into inspection, specialising in major public infrastructure and bridge projects.

Since joining Cairnhill, David has played a key role in establishing and growing the C-Met division. No two days are the same, with every project bringing a new challenge. His role spans multiple departments, including welding and inspection, while driving the division’s capabilities through the latest metrology technology, software, and equipment. Passionate about innovation, David enjoys helping expand Cairnhill’s technical expertise and streamlining processes with the latest tools and gadgets—earning him his well-deserved nickname.

David thrives in Cairnhill’s fast-paced environment, where the business continues to evolve. Looking ahead, he is focused on developing C-Met into a trusted engineering partner, bridging the gap between traditional engineering quality and modern digital workflows. With the right technology—and usually the right gadget—close at hand, David is always looking for smarter ways to deliver for our customers.

Outside of work, David enjoys slowing things down by spending time with his wife and son or heading to the golf course to lower his handicap—although it’s already the best in the office! Safe to say, the gadgets get a well-earned day off.
