New College Lanarkshire – First Cohort’s Course Completion

We are delighted to announce the successful completion of the first cohort of students from our partnership with NLC’s Engineering Futures Course!
Throughout the programme, students completed a range of introductory courses covering engineering, fabrication, and welding. Designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the industry, the course combined theoretical learning with practical workshop experience, giving students valuable insight into key engineering processes and techniques.
The programme included training in Abrasive Wheels, Working at Height, Confined Spaces, and Manual Handling, alongside practical experience in our TWI Approved welding School. This combination of classroom learning and workshop activities allowed students to develop their skills while gaining exposure to a wide range of engineering disciplines.
Catching up with a few of the students last week, some of their feedback included:
“The course was very interesting to me; it definitely gave me something to work towards over the summer and introduced me to an industry I would never have thought of looking into a few years ago.”
“My favourite part of the course was being allowed to shadow fabricator Willie, as it gave me a closer look of what some of the jobs would look like if I worked here. It was also cool to see the variety of projects that were being worked on in the workshop.”
