The refurbishment of the bridge began in May 2020, with Cairnhill getting involved in August 2021. We were contracted by Balfour Beatty and given an extremely short timeframe to manufacture, coat, and install.
Our team fabricated 48m and 31m long Plate Girders that had a combined length of 79m when bolted together. Altogether, the 3 pairs of Girders weighed a total of 288 tonnes.
The girders were manufactured at our facilities in Coatbridge and Renfrew and then transported to Regent Street Flyover in Leeds. Over 5 nights, our in-house site erection team installed the girders onto the Flyover back in January.
The completion of the Flyover will make a huge improvement to Leeds City Centre.
