This month, we’re shining the spotlight on Connor Stoney, one of our talented Draughtsmen here at Cairnhill. Starting his career straight out of college, Connor built a strong foundation in the drawing office before expanding his expertise as an Appointed Person (AP) to further refine his craft at Cairnhill. Working on major projects such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C, he has consistently developed his skills across design coordination, site support, risk assessments, and project management, steadily strengthening his technical knowledge and on-site understanding.
From first sketch to final bolt, Connor plays a key role in turning concepts into fabrication-ready realities. Whether he’s refining detailed drawings, supporting on-site installation teams, or contributing to risk assessments and method statements, he ensures every element is aligned long before steel hits the ground. His ability to move between the drawing board and each project site makes him a reliable link at each stage of the build.
A standout moment in his career was seeing the temporary bridge steelwork he detailed at Sizewell C progress from design to installation, a powerful reminder that precise plans allow for successful execution. Known for his adaptability, supportive nature, and mindful approach, Connor brings both structure and strength to the Cairnhill team – reinforcing every project he’s part of. Outside of work, you’ll find Connor walking his dog, Mabel, heading to the cinema, on his Xbox, or embracing his geek with Dungeons and Dragons.
Thank you for all you do, Connor!
